UNIT: Intro to Economics (Jan.26-Feb.20,2015)

This is our unit plan.  Below the unit plan is a brief outline of what we do in class each day.

1. Introduce "mystery" that needs to be solved: "Given we are a nation that values health and "thinness," why are Americans growing increasingly overweight?"
-make a prediction & write it down
-what do we know? (we understand the importance of health, healthy food is usually more expensive than unhealthy food, more people are working in less physically -strenuous and safer jobs, more leisure-time activities are less-active in nature)
2. Read "Student Activity"
-create a "note-taking" strategy
-read & take notes
-answer questions at the end  
3. In small groups, go over answer together (add/change answers using a different color pen)
4. Go over & discuss as a class - share our findings about the "mystery"

1. Think about a "pretend" business you want to start.  List EVERY single thing you can think of that you would need to run this business.  Write these down and bring to class tomorrow.
2. In class go over Section 1 (scarcity & factors of production) assignment
























3. Using your homework (list of what you need to start your business), sort your list into "Land, Labor & Capital (both physical & human) - add more as you complete this assignment
