UNIT: Economic Systems (Starting Feb.23-April 2,2015)

This is our unit plan.  Below the unit plan is a brief outline of what we do in class each day.  IF YOU ARE ABSENT be sure to check BOTH!!

Learning Targets for the Unit:
I CAN…identify the three key economic questions that all societies must answer and analyze the socital values that determine how a country answers the three economic questions.
I CAN...describe the characteristics of a traditional economy, free market economy, centrally planned economy & a mixed economy and identify its advantages and disadvantages.
I CAN...distinguish between socialism and communism.
I CAN...compare mixed economies of various nations.
I CAN...interpret a circular flow model of both a free market economy AND a mixed economy.
I CAN...describe the role of free enterprise in the U.S. economy.

Essential Question(s) for the Unit:
How do we decide who gets what goods and services in society?
How should these goods and services be produced?
Who should get to consume each good and service?
What is the best economic system for meeting the needs of humans?
